Dear Meead,
I'm so glad you had a lovely day sailing with the Iranian family. How fun to enjoy their hospitality AND a sunny day. Enjoy these while you can, and if no one has mentioned it yet, be sure to purchase some "full spectrum" light bulbs for your lamps. It does get very gray up here over the winter, especially in Portland, and some people can become physically depressed from the lack of sunshine.

I'm sorry to just now be catching up with your Portland adventures. I started school again myself and also back to work, so have been very self-absorbed and not visiting around the blogs. In fact, right now I need to do some homework, so I will stop avoiding that and say a big welcome to the west coast. I'm so glad you are near and I hope to get down to see you this fall (we have friends across the Gorge in Washugal), and hope to have you visit us in Seattle. Best wishes as you plow into your studies and work. It is great to see your new campus and visualize your surroundings. Hope you enjoy every minute of it!

That sounds like a wonderful day! It's good to have people nearby who speak your home language.

Were they Iranian or Persian? There is a difference (in case you didn't know)

I'll bet they made you some Iranian dishes; nostalgic for you?

Fantastic, Meaad! This is what I love about the Pacific Northwest!
