Outside The Walmart Shopping Center

Not a bad photo for today. I like this one. It reminds me we are not the only ones who enjoy life on the earth, but the flowers do too.

I had a very good day. I went to the Orientation and after that I went to DANCING! It was American Square Dancing! It was wonderful. There were lots of couples. Couples took their hands and circled around a hall and did some other movements that some of you, my American friends, may know what I am talking about. I had four partners during the different parts of the dance; the first one was an old woman around 70 years old (I wasn't lucky), the second one was another old woman around 60 (I wasn't lucky again), the third one was a not very beautiful Taiwani girl (I have to say I wasn't lucky again) and the last one was an American nice girl. Her name was Jennifer. This time I was lucky but only for two minutes. I'm kidding. I'm not such a bad boy. It was really interesting. I haven't ever had a similar experience before. Have you ever had? Square dancing in a group of near 100 people?

You're so lucky to have experienced square dancing. I love it. When I was a little girl in Pennsylvania, we used to do square dancing indoors in the winter as exercise!

Posting a WalMart? Now I KNOW you are really in America. hehe
I am LOLing imagining you on that dancefloor. Better luck next time!

Once in an Arkansas barn I tried squaredancing. The caller was saying all kinds of words of instruction that everyone but me understood.

I agree with Dina, you're really in the United States now if you've already been to your first Walmart!

I have been square dancing, too! I grew up in Texas, and my junior high school had several square dances. Then, when I was older I went to a few square dances held at rodeos. It was fun and a little confusing if you don't know all the moves. I'm so glad you had fun. This is great to see our world through your eyes, Meead!

I like the photos with the pretty flowers and your story about square dancing. Actually, I think you may be been Lucky four times in that you had so much fun with all the females you danced with....no matter their age!

yoo hoo, little Laurie.... You can still go square dancing. They hold square dances at the South Pasadena Armory (across from the Winchels).

Meead, Wall Mart and "doe-see-dos" in the first week. You are so funny.

You haven't been in America even for a week yet, and you have already square danced! I was delighted to read that you enjoyed it. I think many of us did square dancing at some point of our youth, usually for "physical education" classes as youngsters. In Girl Scouts, we learned folk dances from other countries as well.

I'm sure you gave much joy to the old, and young, ladies who were your partners in dance. I hope you'll have more opportunities to try it.

Oh! We used to square dance in gym class in junior high! I wanted my favorite boys for partners and always felt lucky when I got them. I know how you feel, Meead. Yeehaw, fun!
