Meead, that is just beautiful. I had forgetten Portland has such a beautiful setting. I was there briefly a very long time ago, I remember I like it, it had a huge bookstore.
My mother used to live in McMinnville, west and a bit south of Portland. I visited the area often while she was alive so I know this is a rare view. Usually, Mount Hood is hidden by clouds.
This is inspirational! I love it, Meead. The topography in Portland is very different from Mashad, isn't it? When I left Texas and came to Los Angeles, I was often struck by how different the land looked and how the foliage was not the same as what I had grown up looking at. I noticed the world around me a lot more closely because it wasn't my usual scenery. Now, when I go back to Austin, I'm struck by how different it is from what I've gotten used to here.
I love that you can see Mt. Hood just about every day in Portland. It's such a majestic mountain. Have you seen Mt. Ranier, Mt. St. Helens, and/or Mt. Adams yet? There are a few points where you can actually see all four of them on a clear day. It's a fantastic view!

It must be good to be awake early and ready with the camera to welcome a sunrise like this.
